COUNTRY DUO THE LOVELOCKS RELEASE DANCE-POP REMIX OF THEIR LATEST SINGLE “STAYCATION”

CCMA Award winning duo The Lovelocks are celebrating the release of the remix of their latest single “Staycation”, available digitally and at radio today via MDM Recordings Inc./Universal Music Canada. “Staycation (Michael IU Remix)” is the dance-pop version of the original fun-filled track, which has garnered over 400,000 streams to date and serves as the lead single from the Toronto-based twosomes forthcoming album, available later this year.
“Country music is in our hearts, but we wanted to do something a little different for our fans to celebrate reaching over 400,000 streams of Staycation,” said The Lovelocks. “Living in Toronto has exposed us to a wide variety of music and so we thought it would be fun to combine our city and country worlds by collaborating with Norwegian DJ Michael IU to create a pop-based remix. We laughed when we first heard it because it is so different than the country music that we are used to creating, but now we can’t get enough of it, and we hope our fans feel the same way. See you on the dance floor!”
Friends first, The Lovelocks (Ali Raney and Zoe Sparrow) are woven together with a desire to create music that gives voice to both the bitter and sweet in life. The group has a deep passion for their craft and country music, and share a strong desire to be leaders in the movement of bringing female voices back to the top of the Canadian country radio airwaves. With “Staycation”, the duo celebrates the smallest victories in the biggest way possible, making the most out of any situation.
Celebrated for their soul stirring performances and melodic strings, The Lovelocks recently garnered their fourth consecutive CCMA Awards nomination in the 2017 Roots Artist or Group of the Year category. Having first caught the attention of the Canadian country music industry when they won the CCMA Discovery Series in 2014, their 2014 debut self-titled EP featured the highly-praised singles “Dance” and “Teardrop Tattoo” and hit #2 on the iTunes Country chart the day of release. Their sophomore album “Born To Love” dropped in 2016 and saw the release of three singles including “Home Sweet Home” which was the #1 selling single by a Canadian country artist the week of release. Their unique take on the Cyndi Lauper classic “Time After Time” infused the iconic song with upbeat roots country sounds and signature fiddle interplays helmed by five-time CCMA Fiddle Player of the Year Award nominee Raney.
Combining a lot of talent, a story to tell and a profound work ethic, The Lovelocks will surely have a lot to celebrate in 2018.
