Dreaming Out Loud and Music Nova Scotia present Tiki Lounge 2018 on Saturday, May 12 at Rivoli. An annual highlight of CMW, the event features many of Nova Scotia’s leading artists, and will be capped off in compelling fashion by the three Dreaming Out Loud acts; Neon Dreams, Jodi Guthro, and BRDGS.
Fast-rising singer/songwriter Jodi Guthro is riding high on the dazzling success of her debut single, “Heights,” a melodic gem that has quickly gained a highly impressive 300K Spotify streams, reaching #6 on Spotify Canada’s Viral 50 chart. Her new single, “Ain’t Enough,” is being released on May 11, and it is a gently mesmerizing and emotionally honest track. Jodi is the daughter of top roots singer/songwriter Bruce Guthro and the sister of Dylan Guthro, a member of fast-rising trio Port Cities.
BRDGS 2017 debut single, “In The Wild”, caught the Canadian music industry’s attention by reaching No. 28 on the Canadian Top 40 chart. An infectious piece of modern pop, it won both the iHeart Radio Future Star and Newcap Trending Track programs last November. His new single “All My Friends” was co-written with Jodi Guthro and produced by Corey LeRue in the Dreaming Out Loud studio in Halifax. It was instantly added to radio across the country. He has earned a reputation as an energetic and charismatic performer, impressing in opening slots for such acts as Virginia To Vegas and Ria Mae.
Headlining the showcase will be the label’s flagship act, hit-making Halifax trio Neon Dreams. They are a band that defies genre pigeonholing, as they draw freely upon pop, rock, EDM, hiphop and reggae elements, integrating and blending them in seamless and thrilling fashion. They have rapidly emerged as one of the brightest new stars on the Canadian music horizon but their success story has long and deep roots. Frank Kadillac, Adrian Morris and Matt Gats have been playing together the last nine years resulting in a tight-knit band with strong personal and musical foundation.
They First made an impact on Canadian radio in 2016 with their breakout single “Marching Bands”, featuring Kardinal Offishall. Certified gold, the smash hit brought Neon Dreams victory in the Best New Group or Solo Artist (Dance/ Urban/Rhythmic) category at the 2017 Canadian Radio Music Awards in Toronto, beating out prominent nominees Tory Lanez and PartyNextDoor. They charted Top 30 twice more in 2017 with their follow up single “Find A Way” and “Confessions”. Their seven-song 2016 EP To You has enjoyed astonishing success. To date, it has received over 10 million streams on Spotify and sold over 10,000 units in Canada.
The Dreaming Out Loud label is the brainchild of Halifax producer and songwriter Corey LeRue. He launched it last year as a vehicle for Neon Dreams, a group whose sound he helped shape as both producer and, for a period, a member. His highly original sound and vision caught the ear of Warner Music Canada, which has entered into a partnership with Dreaming Out Loud. LeRue’s keen ear for talent has led to the signings of Jodi Guthro and BRDGS, with further additions to the elite roster expected.
