Julie Doiron `Homeless’ During Winter Tour/Record Release

After pounding the highways of Canada since the band’s inception, Julie Doiron & The Wrong Guys are excited to announce the release of a new 7” on their own Wrong Guys Records imprint. The 7” features tracks “Homeless” and “Farther From You” and is available to purchase digitally at Bandcamp HERE, with a physical version available in January. The 7” is the first glimpse into the band’s upcoming full-length LP due early 2017. The band also announced 2017 Winter tour dates in Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. See below for a current routing. More tour dates will be announced soon.

In 2011, celebrated Juno-award winning songwriter Julie Doiron enlisted Mike Peters and Jaye Schwarzer—known best for their long-time tenure in Cancer Bats, reigning kings of Canadian metal and hardcore—to fill in some shows on drums and bass, inviting country-meets-punk troubadour Eamon McGrath to round out the sound on fuzzed-out guitar. High profile tours of Ontario, Quebec and the East Coast soon followed.

hnyj_jtwg7inchbackcover2-1Live, the band is nothing short of a spectacle: Schwarzer’s earthquake-inducing bass tones, Peters’ tribal bashing of his kit, and McGrath’s energetic, ferocious and sweaty guitar solos serve as the perfect vehicle for Doiron’s heartfelt and emotional melodies which weave in and out of the sonic barrage that surrounds them, although somehow neither volume nor silence ever outweigh each other.

The jaw-dropping fury of Julie & The Wrong Guys, tamed by an equal passion for both the spirit of punk rock and the delicate beauties of songwriting, truly has to be seen and heard to be believed. Genres as diverse as folk, indie rock, punk rock, grunge, and metal are simultaneously filtered through a distinctly Canadian lens, channeling the vast geography, diverse climate and barren emptiness of the country into a cohesive, exciting musical sound.
