Roots rocker JJ Shiplett announced today that he’ll be hitting the road with the iconic American country-folk outfit Nitty Gritty Dirt Band as they embark on the Canadian leg of their 50th Anniversary Tour, making stops in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba before taking the show south of the border. Celebrating five decades, the Nitty Gritty Dirty Band has continued to tour and release music, influencing multiple generations of audiences and artists along the way. Tickets for the tour will go on sale on May 26th at 11:00 a.m. ET via www.nittygritty.com.
Shiplett is currently on the road in support of his full-length debut album “Something To Believe In”, released January 27th via HALO Entertainment Group/Warner Music Canada. Recorded in Toronto and Nashville, the soulful and emotive collection of songs on “Something To Believe In” perfectly showcases the Alberta-born Shiplett’s passion and reverence for the art of music and performance. It’s aesthetically minded and stubbornly unyielding, while at heart, the self-penned LP combines honest lyricism with Shiplett’s impressive vocal range and effortlessly tracks the last two years of his story.
Last November, Calgary’s Studio Bell in the National Music Centre hosted an intimate evening with Shiplett, who performed a stunning selection of songs for an invitation only audience to create “JJ Shiplett – Live At Studio Bell” with CMT Canada. WATCH the live performance of “Am I Dear” HERE.
Catch Shiplett on the road this summer at various festivals across the country and with Nitty Gritty Dirt Band later this fall.
