UPCOMING ALBUM, THESE ARE THE DAYS, OUT MARCH 16
08 March 2018 (Toronto, ON) – Multi-platinum, award-winning singer/songwriter, best-selling author, radio host, actor, activist, and social media star Jann Arden has shared the video for her new song “Not Your Little Girl” today on International Women’s Day on VEVO. “Not Your Little Girl” is the fourth song released from Arden’s upcoming album, These Are the Days, out March 16 on Universal Music Canada the country’s leading music company. The video was shot in Toronto in January and was directed by Toronto fashion photographer/videographer and longtime friend of Arden’s, Alkan Emin.
“Not your little Girl was written for women everywhere – in hopes of further igniting the conversation of where we stand on a whole lotta issues,” said Arden. “It felt like an anthem – a call to unite and band together for once and for all. The video is raw and intimate and vulnerable. Alkan captured the heart of what this song really is-we are a force to be reckoned with.”
Alkan commented on the experience of making the video: “Jann and I had talked and we felt it was like an anthem for what’s happening in the world right now with women,” said Alkan. “Showing all aspects of women. Strength, intellect, vulnerability, anger, humour. As a man, and looking at how I directed the video and the powerful lyrics, it was nice to be a part of the solution and not cause.”
“Not Your Little Girl” follows the release of the album’s first official single “Everybody’s Pulling On Me”, “Little Bird”, an instant grat offered with the album’s pre-order, and “A Long Goodbye”, a poignant reflection on the gradual disappearance of a loved one suffering from dementia-related illness, a theme central to Arden’s most recent book, Feeding My Mother – Comfort and Laughter in the Kitchen as My Mom Lives with Memory Loss.
