Today, CCMA award-winning and JUNO nominated Canadian Country duo, The Reklaws, release their newest single, “I Do Too” via Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. Listen to “I Do Too”
The inspirational track, co-written by Brad Rempel of High Valley, and Nashville heavy-weight Ben Stennis, follows the Reklaws’ first #1 radio single, “Feels Like That,” the title song to their debut, JUNO nominated EP released late last year…
While the duo is known best for upbeat anthemic hits, they share a different, more vulnerable side of themselves on “I Do Too,” they commented; “We are super blessed to have enjoyed such an amazing 2018. In so many ways it was a dream come true, but at the end of the day, we’re still just two kids trying our best to overcome our own fears and insecurities, and make the most of this crazy ride called life! Our goal has always been to write songs from the heart, that we relate too and our fans can relate to, so we hope they can relate to this song, and these lyrics as much as we do.”
The Reklaws have had a momentous start to 2019 and highlights include recently completing a headlining tour that included stops in Toronto and Montreal as well as earning their first JUNO nomination for Country Album of The Year. Earlier this month, they brought the party to the stage at the 2019 JUNO Awards when they performed their anthemic, hit single “Long Live The Night.” Watch the captivating performance HERE.
Raised in rural Ontario, The Reklaws (Walker spelled backwards) are comprised of the brother-sister duo Jenna and Stuart Walker. Growing up on an “adventure farm”, The Reklaws have had a love of entertainment from a young age, performing at the pig races for hundreds of visitors every fall from the age of 8 to 18.
They began to turn heads in 2013 when they took home the Boots & Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase title. Since then, they have shared the stage with some of country’s best including Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, Dierks Bentley, Thomas Rhett and more.
The pair has spent years in Nashville writing rooms crafting their songs and their sound, which has become an authentic mix of pop and country, and a “soundtrack-to-your-life” vibe. The Reklaws took the summer of 2017 by storm with the release of their debut single “Hometown Kids”, which quickly charted at #15, garnered over 2 million streams, and major playlist additions including Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s “PM Mix”.
The Reklaws had a massively successful 2018, with their second single “Long Live the Night” being the most streamed domestic country song released that year. Achieving Gold certification and being selected as the theme song for Thursday Night Football on TSN as an integral part of the weekly CFL broadcast, the Reklaws began to solidify themselves as the next Canadian superstars in country music.
In August of 2018, they released their debut EP, “Feels Like That”, which on the first weekend was the #1 selling Canadian country album in Canada on iTunes and has earned adds on some of Spotify’s biggest country playlists. The title track, “Feels Like That,” also became their first #1 single at Canadian country radio.
The duo performed on the live broadcast for the 2018 CCMA Awards on September 9th and won the SiriusXM Rising Star award along with their nominations for Video of the Year (“Hometown Kids”), and Group or Duo of the Year. To cap off their year, The Reklaws performed on the Sirius XM Kickoff show at the 106th Grey Cup at The Brick Field at Commonwealth Stadium on November 25, 2018.
Fans can catch the duo performing at music festivals throughout Canada this summer, full details below. Stay tuned for much more to come as The Reklaws continue to solidify themselves as the next superstars in country music in Canada and around the world.
