The best of Canada’s Independent talent took centre stage Wednesday as the 16th annual Indie Awards were presented at Toronto’s Phoenix Concert Theatre.
Funded by the Ontario Music Fund Corporation (through the Ontario Music Fund) and hosted by Indies 88 radio personality Raina Dunn, this Canadian Music Week initiative resulted in a number of awards being spread out between a number of budding and established independent artists.
With stand out live performances turned in by The Strumbellas, Wintersleep, Alberta Cross and The Zolas, the near capacity crowd also witnessed the following Indie 88 award recipients:

Artist Of The Year – Yoan (Production J)
Pop Artist Of The Year – Coleman Hell (604 Records)
Francophone Artist/Group Of The Year – Chocolat (Grosse Boite)
Singer/Songwriter Of The Year – Dan Mangan (Art And Crafts Records)
Aboriginal Artist/Group Of The Year – A Tribe Called Red (Pirates Blend/Sony Music)
International Artist/Group Of The Year – Alabama Shakes (Cadence Music/Ato Records
