R40
(Anthem)
Toronto’s Rush are the clear masters of re-packaging past releases. Aside from their 19 studio records and 10 live releases, Rush have also re-packaged 11 compilation albums and two boxed sets to go along with 11 live video titles. Now you can add to this, R40, a 10 DVD or six Blu-Ray boxed set (your choice) issued to celebrate the band’s 40th anniversary.
Included in this collection are their last five live concert films; 2013’s Clockwork Angels tour; 2011’s Time Machine Live In Cleveland; 2008’s Snakes & Arrows Live; 2005 R30 30th Anniversary Tour and 2003’s Rush In Rio event. Add to this a two-hour bonus disc containing archival footage that includes rare 1974 footage of original drummer John Rutsey performing eight songs with the band at Laura Secord Secondary School, five songs recorded in 1976 at Toronto’s Capitol Theatre , their entire 2112 live performance plus footage gleaned from their 2013 Rock N Roll Hall of Fame induction in Cleveland with fitting tributes from Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters.
I can’t think of anything Rush hasn’t released over the past 40 years on either DVD or CD but if there is a spare piece of video tape stashed somewhere in someone’s attic, I am sure it will surface eventually.
