MONOWHALES Announce Eastern Headline Dates
Toronto-based alt-rockers MONOWHALES have released their new single “RICH$$$” today. The feel-good banger from the JUNO Award-winning group comprised of vocalist Sally Shaar, guitarist Zach Zanardo and drummer Jordan Circosta sees MONOWHALES bringing the heat with their signature super-pop, hooky chorus combined with the track’s fierce guitar, bass and raging synths. After a year of pouring their hearts out in some intense and, at times, dark songs, the band is shifting gears and sharing their fun summer banger about how much they love their friends. The track precedes the release of the hotly anticipated Dave Schiffman (Vampire Weekend, Pup) produced album Tunnel Vision.
Co-written by Steven Babcock (PUP), “RICH$$$” also arrives with a fan-made video, created by Grace Turner, which the band have released as the official video for “RICH$$$.” About the fan-made video, drummer Jordan Circosta says, “Grace Turner is an up-and-coming filmmaker in Toronto, who also plays in a great band called City Builders. She asked if she could cook up a video for one of the songs on our new album, and we said of course! It’s so nice to see other artists filter our music through their experiences and create something unique.”
Of “RICH$$$,” lead singer Sally Shaar says, “Between all the darkness and introspectiveness of all the last few songs you’ve heard on this upcoming album so far, RICH$$$ is a breath of fresh air on a sunny day in the park with your friends. This one goes out to all your ride or die’s. What feels richer than a solid connection with a loved one. Nothin’.”
MONOWHALES recently announced a slate of headlining tour dates across Canada following an impressive year on the stage, crossing Canada with Mother Mother and festival stops at Festival d’ete, Hillside Music Festival, Rock The Hub and Osheaga, to name just a few. The full list of dates (see below) will bring the band to 17 Canadian cities on their first national headlining tour. More tour dates are being announced soon – for all the information, visit MONOWHALES.COM.
Exploding onto the scene in 2017, Toronto-based MONOWHALES have put a new lease on the alt-rock genre and established themselves as one of Canada’s most exciting new bands. Their 2019 breakout single “RWLYD (Really Wanna Let You Down)” made history as MONOWHALES became the only independent, self-managed band to chart at #2 on the Mediabase Canada Alternative Rock Chart. Most recently, the band took home the 2022 JUNO Award for Breakthrough Group of the Year. With multiple Top 10 singles, millions of streams, and countless shows played across Canada (including support slots for Mother Mother, K.Flay, DFA 1979, Sloan, and Marianas Trench), MONOWHALES have earned a special place in the hearts and minds of fans across the country.
