Toronto-based alternative rockers MONOWHALES have announced a massive North American tour that will see the Juno award winning group bringing their captivating live show to 25 markets across the US and Canada this fall. A full list of dates is available below or on the group’s official website. The tour announcement arrives on the heels of the band’s anthemic new single “Hear Me Out,” which was released yesterday alongside an official video featuring highlights from the band’s recent tour with grandson, along with recent festival performances. Produced by lead guitarist Zach Zanardo, “Hear Me Out” speaks to MONOWHALES’ feelings of comfort and community that they have while on stage in front of their fans. Of “Hear Me Out,” lead singer Sally Shaar says “When I’m on tour, I get to surround myself with the most accepting and welcoming people on earth. I feel so heard, so supported. ‘Hear Me Out’ explores how difficult it is for me to live without that outlet. The place that I feel most comfortable is in the discomfort of vans, hotels and messy dressing rooms. MONOWHALES tours breathe life into me, and the climax to that way of life is that I get to go on stage and be surrounded by such an amazing community. ‘Hear Me Out’ is a song about how all the parts of what we do, the good and the hard are all my favourite. I’m out here living my lifelong dreams, and when I’m not, I’m just struggling and working on making that happen again, as soon as possible.”
Zach Zanardo adds “I made a choice to focus on what comes out of our instruments, rather than sample-driven productions of some of our past work. That is not to knock samples, but it just happened to be what I was interested in at the moment. I was also fortunate to have an opportunity to express myself as a soloist. There haven’t really been any major guitar solos in our work since ‘Real Love’. The solo on ‘Hear Me Out’ allowed me to channel my power pop sensibilities and really be myself.”
Exploding out of their hometown of Toronto, JUNO Award-winning band MONOWHALES have put a new lease on the alt rock genre. Their 2019 breakout single ‘RWLYD (Really Wanna Let You Down)’ made history as MONOWHALES became the only independent, self-managed band to chart at #2 at alt radio in Canada. 2022 was a landmark year for the band, with highlights including winning a JUNO Award for Breakthrough Group of the Year, supporting Mother Mother on their Canadian tour, playing some of the country’s biggest festivals (including Osheaga, Festival d’ete de Quebec, Hillside, and more), releasing their new album ‘Tunnel Vision’ and headlining their own tour across the country to cap off the year.
