Sad news for Kitchener music community and artists, TD Kitchener Blues Festival 2020 was to celebrate its 20th year has officially cancelled. However, the festival is striving for some other type of musical presentation and possibilities reshaping in support of the local artists and local businesses.
Statement from Kitchener Blues Festival
With much regret, we are cancelling the 2020 edition of the Kitchener Blues Festival.
We have carefully followed the trajectory of the COVID-19 pandemic and sought the expert advice of Regional and Provincial authorities, whose work we highly appreciate in these difficult times.
Our entire volunteer board of directors are passionate about presenting live blues music here in Kitchener and are proud of the positive economic and cultural benefits that this Festival has provided year after year. This was to be our 20th Anniversary, and we had planned another spectacular event around that celebration. Rest assured, we will bring that same level of dedication and effort
to the 2021 edition.
In keeping with our mandate, we are now exploring opportunities to present live blues in
Downtown Kitchener in 2020 that will conform to the guidelines provided by the authorities. We feel strongly about supporting the local musicians and businesses that have supported us over the years. We know it will not be the Kitchener Blues Festival that we are used to seeing, but it is our way of helping in a small way.
