Montreal, July 7, 2016. If you haven’t already, you’re going to hear Montreal’s The Damn Truth soon. And even if you have, you’re about to hear them with more than your ears—you’re going to feel them in your gut.

The band’s newest, full-length album, “Devilish Folk”, comes out this Friday, July 8, on Fineline Records / Warner Music Canada. You’ll be able to grab it in stores and online (via Apple Music, iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, Google Play and Deezer), but the album is available for pre-order on iTunes right now, including four singles immediately available for instant download at the time of purchase: “Heart Is Cold”, the first single from the album; “Broken Blueswhich was released on June 10; “White Lies, released on June 24; and “Get With You”,which you may have heard on rock radio last fall, with its release as a 7-inch vinyl single. As is their modus operandi, “Devilish Folk” sees the band – Lee-la Baum (vocals/guitar), Tom Shemer (guitars), and Dave Traina (drums) – reassert their ethos of grit and cement their place in the evolution of rock’n’roll.

As part of this journey comes a landmark moment for the band. Lead singer Lee-la Baum was selected by fashion giant, Yves Saint Laurent, to record a cover version of U2’s “Love is Blindness” to be used as the soundtrack to its newest fragrance’s ad campaign, “Mon Paris”, a two-year multi-platform campaign, which will feature a roll-out of the commercial both online and in TV campaigns around the world. The spot can be viewed here:https://youtu.be/W3ggPjNbfnc

Due to the overwhelming demand from new fans across the globe discovering the band from the Yves Saint Laurent commercial, The Damn Truth will be releasing their own video of the full track and adding “Love Is Blindness” to their upcoming live tour set. Being hand-picked as musical ambassadors by the iconic and prestigious brand is an unprecedented opportunity in the momentum of this Montreal rock band.

Following the release of “Devilish Folk”, the band will hit the road across Canada, touring the album from Quebec to B.C., beginning with a hometown performance and record-signing at Montreal’s hmv Megastore (120 Ste. Catherine St. West, corner Peel), at 4PM on Friday, July 8, the very same day their new album drops. Local fans will be treated to two more performances this summer, as the band opens for The Cult, at Montreal’sMetropolis on Sunday, July 10, and performs Saturday, July 30 at the Osheaga Festival.

The band’s tour schedule is listed below, with more dates to be added and announced soon.

Without question, “Devilish Folk” is a ballsy statement. Following their thunderous and critically-acclaimed raw-rock 2012 full-length, “Dear in the Headlights”, this long-anticipated follow-up sees the bandalong withproducer/engineer, Jean Massicotte (Lhasa, Patrick Watson, Pierre Lapointe), Grammy-Award-winning producer/engineer/mixer, Tchad Blake (Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys, U2), and mastering engineer, John Davis (Led Zeppelin, Royal Blood, Lana Del Rey) – without qualms about drawing from rock’n’roll’s very foundations, from Black Sabbath, to Janis Joplin, to Fleetwood Mac—to name just a few bands often uttered in the same breath as The Damn Truth. However, the band’s unique balance of genre-defying bruising, blues-based, blue-collar rock distinguishes them as something of a musical anomaly.

Guitarist Tom Shemer muses: “I think some of the older fans are drawn to the band because we remind them of what rock’n’roll used to be like in its heyday, when it was still a bit dangerous…”

damntruthLike those before them, they’ve paid some dues in sweat: they’ve had their merch-filled tour van stolen; they took their 2-month-old baby on tour with them; they’re the first truly independent band to chart on Montreal commercial radio; they’ve toured and conquered clubs and hearts with animalistic live shows; they have a ravenous following dying to hear more. NOW, they’re ready to go global.

And The Damn Truth’s album “Devilish Folk” will be far more than a sonic experience! A recent Montreal exhibition by international street artist, Enzo Sarto, so inspired the band that they reached out to have him assist with concept art for the new album. The admiration proved to be mutual and Sarto is also using some of the band members’ portraits he shot in one of his established series. Those new works have started to appear on streets around the world.
