& SPECIAL ALBUM EVENT ANNOUNCED FOR SEPTEMBER 10
06 JULY 2016 (Toronto, ON) – Singer-songwriter and multi-platinum recording artist Shawn Mendes’
highly-anticipated sophomore album, Illuminate, will be released September 23 via Universal Music
Canada, the country’s leading music company. The album, featuring current hit single “Treat You
Better” is available for pre-order now at shawnmendesofficial.com and will be available for pre-order
via iTunes this Friday, July 8. Upon pre-ordering on iTunes this Friday, fans will instantly receive “Treat
You Better” plus new song “Ruin,” along with 3 additional songs to be made available before album
release.
Shawn will give fans an exclusive preview of the new album for the first time with the Illuminate Live
Concert & Album Event, a special headlining show at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on
Saturday, September 10. In addition to a full live concert, fans will be treated to an immersive one-time only

The first 1,000 fans to arrive at Shawn’s TODAY outdoor concert on Friday, July 8 will be guaranteed
presale access to tickets for the Madison Square Garden show via the FirstAccess fan presale. Fans can
learn more and receive a code for the FirstAccess and general fan presales via ShawnAccess.com. Fan
presales will begin July 9 and 10, and American Express® Card Members can purchase tickets before the
general public beginning Monday, July 11 at 10am local time through Friday, July 15 at 10pm local time.

“Treat You Better” debuted at #1 immediately upon release via iTunes in 26 countries. It is already Top
20 at pop radio as it enters Top 10 on the Spotify Global 50 chart and Top 20 on the Shazam Global

and Billboard declared it a “perfect-for-summer track.”
Shawn will be performing on the TODAY Show Summer Concert Series on July 8 as well as on
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on July 11. These performances will precede the kick-off of the
North American leg of Shawn’s World Tour on July 15 in Florida. Coming off of a sold-out tour in Europe,
this 26-date headlining tour will run through August 21 at the Air Canada Centre in Shawn’s hometown
of Toronto, Canada. Following the Illuminate Live Concert & Album Event at Madison Square Garden on
September 10, Shawn will go on to play shows in Australia and the Philippines, with additional dates to
