THE TRAGICALLY HIP. Fully Completely (Deluxe Re-release)

(Universal Music)

Following a now well defined re-release formula, the pride of Kingston, Ontario, The Tragically Hip has re-released their Fully Completely record as a two-disc CD, two disc vinyl and a super deluxe set. Disc One is a fully re-mastered version of the original record which now includes two new tracks; the original version of “So Hard Done By” plus a new song; “Radio Show” which features a tasty guitar solo by Paul Langlois. The bonus disc covers a live performance of the same tracks at Toronto’s legendary Horseshoe Tavern September 13th 1982 with an additional performance of “Twist My Arm” added to the set list. Arguably, the band’s most critical and commercially successful record, Fully Completely, the band’s third album at that time was originally released October 6th 1992 and was recorded at the Battery Studios in London  England and produced by Chris Tsangarides. Containing a number of tracks that are now Hip standards including; “Courage”, “Fifty Mission Cap”, “Locked In The Trunk Of A Car” and “Looking For A Place To Happen”, the record topped the Canadian charts and earned a Diamond record status for over one million units sold. Suffice to say the lineup of lead vocalist Gord Downie, lead guitarist Paul Langlois, guitarist Rob Baker, bassist Gord Sinclair and drummer Johnny Fay have remained intact since their 1987 “The Tragically Hip” EP debut and have positioned themselves as cultural icons in this country having won 13 Juno Awards and a place in Canada’s Music Hall of Fame in 2005. Sadly ignored by the U.S market which unfairly branded the Hip as REM wannabe’s, they continue to endure in the Great White North and will be embarking on a major national and U.S tour In January 2015 in which they will perform the entire Fully Completely album as well as other classic hits.
