THE CON X: COVERS, FEATURING 14 STELLAR ARTISTS COVERING TEGAN AND SARA’S ACCLAIMED 2007 ALBUM, SET FOR RELEASE

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of Tegan and Sara’s classic 2007 album, The Con, Warner Bros. Records will releaseThe Con X: Covers on October 20. The vinyl edition will be available December 22. The new album features 14 of Tegan and Sara’s favorite artists, each interpreting a song from the original album. See below for track listing.

The pre-order for The Con X: Covers will launch on Tuesday, September 19, at Tegan and Sara’s online store and other digital retailers. Fans who pre-order the digital album will receive bonus digital tracks by Cyndi Lauper, Bleached, Vivek Shraya and Tegan and Sara on October 20.

Warner Bros. Records will be donating net album proceeds to the Tegan and Sara Foundation. A portion of the proceeds from Tegan and Sara’s The Con X: Tour will also benefit the foundation.

Tegan says, “As the 10th anniversary of The Con approached, Sara and I started to brainstorm meaningful ways to celebrate what was easily one of our most important records. Almost immediately we established that a tour playing all 14 songs in a more intimate and stripped-down arrangement would be memorable for our diehard fans. But we also wanted a companion piece that would live on past the anniversary, hence The Con X: Covers album was born.

“We wanted the proceeds to go to our recently launched Tegan and Sara Foundation, which raises money for self-identified women and girls in the LGBTQ community. With that intention set, we asked 14 artists who were either outspoken allies of the LGTBQ community or LGBTQ themselves to each cover a song from The Con, in any fashion they saw fit. All the artists agreed to donate their time and energy to the project and their labels all agreed to waive their fees as well. We are beyond grateful for the contributions of each artist, and we hope fans of The Con will be moved by their interpretations.”

The Con X: Tour kicks off on October 20 at Balboa Theatre in San Diego, CA and will include shows at the Theatre at Ace Hotel in Los Angeles (October 23 & 24), Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, NY (November 8) and Paramount in Austin, TX (November 15 & 16). See below for itinerary. Tickets for The Con X: Tour are available now athttp://teganandsara.com/shows/.

Filter said, “The Con is a startlingly dark, yet characteristically vibrant offering, featuring a band that’s learned to harness the energy-highs, while tempering pretty (even pastoral) pop-folk with a new, deeply-affecting brand of melancholy.” Rolling Stonepraised it as “uncommonly catchy” and Mojo said, “The Con rockets beyond even their own high standards.” Awarding the album five stars, The Guardian noted, “When your heart feels like a stone in your breast, The Con will prove a perfect, sweetly addictive companion.”

Twin sisters born in Canada, Tegan and Sara have sold over one million albums, and have received seven Gold certifications, one Double Platinum certification, three Juno Awards, two Polaris Prize nominations and a GRAMMY® nomination. They have performed on some of the world’s biggest stages, from the 2015 Oscar Telecast to major festivals, such as Coachella, Lollapalooza and Glastonbury. Their current album, Love You to Deathis the follow up to 2013’s Heartthrob, which contained “Closer” – a multi-format hit that has been certified Gold in the U.S. and Double Platinum in Canada.
