The Canadian Broadcast Company has confirmed that the national network will telecast the last date of The Tragically Hip’s final concert tour on Saturday August 20th from the Rogers K-Rock Centre in Kingston Ontario. The concert will also be streamed live on the internet.
The last of 15 sold-out concert dates to be staged by the band as a final good bye due to lead singer Gord Downie’s terminal brain cancer prognosis, the telecast has been arranged to appease the thousands of Hip fans who were unable to obtain tickets that were put on sale by Ticketmaster in mid May.  Stub Hub, one of the ticket resale companies, which somehow scooped up the majority of available tickets are offering prime tickets for the Kingston date for $5,000 each.
Ironically, the Kingston Ontario band were the first rock act to appear at the K-Rock Centre when it opened February 23rd 2008
Band members Downie (lead vocals), Gord Sinclair (bassist), Paul Langlois (guitar), Rob Baker (guitar) and Johnny Fay (drums,) who debuted with their self-titled EP in 1987 and released their first major LP `Up To Here’ in 1989, have coincided this tour with the release of the band’s 13th studio recording `Man Machine Poem’
