Tete’s January Canadian Tour – A Christmas Present To Himself

French superstar performer, Tété has created a special Christmas present for himself, a mini tour of Montreal and Ontario which he is set to launch Friday January 12th with an appearance at Ottawa’s Brass Monkey venue.

Paris resident, Tété created a major impression at the 2017 Canadian Music Week French showcase at Toronto’s Rivoli with his mixture of folk, blues and chanson francais winning over a predominantly Francophone audience.

Such was the positive response that Music Express Consultants secured the rights to bring Tété back to Toronto in August where he enthralled a packed Adelaide Theatre audience while also appearing at the Quebec Blues Festival in Quebec City and Montreal’s Festival Nuits da Afrique f (Tété was born in Senegal).

“This is actually my fourth tour of Canada,” noted Tété from his Paris residence. “My first happened way back in 2001 and it took me 14 years between my last visit and my appearance at the CMW showcase to be precise. So I look at it as a Christmas present to myself to come back to Canada in January.”

tete2After arriving in Montreal January 11th, Tété kicks of his tour in Ottawa as previously mentioned before travelling West to appear at Cobalt Ontario’s Miner’s Tavern on Saturday January 13th. He then has a travel day before appearing at The Working Class Tavern in Timmins on Monday January 15th and Sudbury’s Townhouse venue on Tuesday January 16th.

Another travel day allows Tété to prepare for a major gig Thursday January 18th at Hugh’s Room before he heads East on Friday January 19th to conclude his brief sojourn on Saturday January 20th at Montreal’s Fairmont Theatre, sponsored by Festival Nuits da Afrique.

Thrilled to be playing in Canada again, Tété is especially excited to be playing for Francophone communities in Cobalt, Timmins and Sudbury who may not be familiar with this artist who regularly sells out 5,000 seat theatres throughout Europe, Asia and Australia.

“I am so grateful to be touring your beautiful country again,” he enthused. “It provides me with another chance to expose my music which is a blend of folk, blues and chanson francais. It feels nice to play to an audience whose ancestors contributed to inventing a music genre that’s been the soundtrack to my life.”

As for Canada’s notoriously cold winters, Tété is well prepared. “I have considered moving to Canada in the past and I have spent a few Januarys and Februarys in Montreal. “I actually prefer Canada’s dry cold to Europe’s wet winters. All I need is a trusty pair of long johns, not that appealing, but hey, they get the job done.”
