Monster Truck has just released their popular cover of the Bay City Rollers’ “Saturday Night”. The track, which first aired last season during the opening montage for Hockey Night in Canada, is now available to purchase and stream via iTunesand is available via all streaming services HERE.
Of the cover track, lead vocalist and bassist Jon Harvey had this to say, “We never thought we’d cover a Bay City Rollers song, but for Hockey Night In Canada we’d cover Mozart! We are so excited to have been given such a great opportunity”.
“Everyone always talks about the virtues of being pulled out of your comfort zone. It’s something you don’t often impose on yourself,” says Monster Truck’s guitarist Jeremy Widerman. “So, when we were commissioned to record a cover of a Bay City Rollers Song for Hockey Night in Canada we knew we had our work cut out for us. It ended up not only providing many inspiring creative moments, but it also introduced us to Dan Weller. We got along so well and we were so happy with the final product, that we got him to produce our upcoming full length.”
Fans will be happy to know that the cover track will continue to kick off HNIC’s coverage every Saturday night for the 2016/2017 season, and will be featured as the theme for Hockey Central’s Saturday pre-game which airs at 6:30pm ET as part of Hockey Night in Canada.

Their latest LP, Sittin’ Heavy, debuted at #3 on the Top 200 Canadian Soundscan chart. In just three weeks, the album’s first single, “Don’t Tell Me How to Live”, catapulted into the Top 5 at Canadian Rock radio and after a number of features during prominent sports events has become a sports arena favourite. The band’s second radio single “For The People” also landed in the Top 5 at Canadian Rock radio and was the #1 most added track at Active Rock in Canada in its first week. Their third single, “The Enforcer”, was used in an HBO promotional spot for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2016 and garnered attention from legendary hockey commentator Don Cherry when the track was featured in the opening montage and second intermission of Hockey Night in Canada last season.
Monster Truck’s unabashed dedication to creating killer riffs and putting every ounce of themselves into their show night after night has created quite an impression not only with fans across the globe, but iconic rock bands as well.
