Newcomers James Barker Band share the distinction of garnering five Canadian Country Music Association awards with Dean Brody and Brett Kissel as the CCMA announced their 2017 candidates to be awarded September 10th at Sask-Tel Centre in Saskatoon. Television coverage on CBC.
The Ontario-based quartet comprising of James Barker, Taylor Abraham, Connor Simpson and Bobby Martin are up for awards for Top Country LP – `Game On’, Group Of The Year, Rising Star Award, Video Of The Year (for “Chills”), and Top Single, “Lawn Chair Crazy”.
Barker is also up for the top songwriter category for “Chills” with Gavin Slate, Travis Wood and Domenic Woods. Also joining the James Barker Band with five award nominations are Smithers B.C native Dean Brody and Flat Lake Alberta’s Brett Kissel. Brody is up for Apple Music’s Fan Choice Award, Album Of The Year (`Beautiful Freak Show’) Single Of The Year (“Time”) which is also up for Top Video Award for that song which also earns Brody, Songwriter of The Year, recognition.
Kissel is up for Male Artist Of Year, Single Of The Year (“Cool With That”), Video of The Year for “I Didn’t Fall In Love With Your Hair”, Interactive Artist Of The Year and Songwriter Of The Year for (“Cool With That”).
Langley B. C’s Dallas Smith was nominated for four awards including: Apple Music’s Fans’ Choice Award, Album Of The Year (`Side Effects’), Male Artist Of Year, and Single Of The Year (“Autograph”.
